Title

Introducing MySQL Clustering for TYPO3 with 'Sequoia' Open Source Software

Authors

Ekkehard Guembel

Abstract

Database clustering has traditionally been a difficult point within a sophisticated TYPO3 environment, although highly desired for performance and availability reasons.

While MySQL's own cluster is far from suitable for TYPO3, the MySQL Cluster manufactured by Continuent (http://www.continuent.com/) has been out of reach for most of us in the past simply due to it's license costs. Now this has changed: All central parts of the Continuent product have been released to the public as Free and Open Source Software named "Sequoia" under the terms of the Apache license.

This talk explains the basic architecture, how to set up such a cluster and how to make it work with TYPO3.
Also, we take a look at how it behaves under different circumstances, including heavy load testing and failover testing, plus real life experiences and management issues like backup or system maintenance.
